Frank Delaney RIP

Feb 23, 2017

Author, broadcaster and James Joyce fanatic, Frank Delaney has passed away aged seventy four.

Born in Tipperary, Delaney had worked in RTE, BBC and other radio and television broadcasters where he fronted many important arts shows most notably Bookshelf, Omnibus and the Frank Delaney ShowFrank Delaney. He also produced documentaries on leading authors and artists including James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, Earnest Hemingway, Matisse and Van Gogh – to name a few.

His books included ‘James Joyce’s Odyssey’ reflecting a lifelong admiration for the writer which was continuing with his, now famous, podcast/blog entitled ‘Re-Joyce’ (see the links section of this website to access) which is a project analysing ‘Ulysses’ in great detail.

Give a listen to the podcast and enjoy the beautiful voice of a man once described as ‘the most elegant man in the world’.

Ar dheis Deí go raibh a anam.
